Jill Carrick published an essay in the British journal Art History this September titled “L’Optique Moderne: Daniel Spoerri’s ‘Optical Readymades’”. It analyzes an early 1960s interactive sculpture by Spoerri made of eccentric eyeglasses, and examines its engagement with Duchampian aesthetics, and with competing cultural and historical understandings of vision.
