photo campus sceneAt RENDER we aim to foster dialogue about visual culture, museology and contemporary engagement with art. We acknowledge the importance of engaging with arts and culture institutions outside of academia and it is our hope that providing this platform will encourage students to participate in Ottawa’s vibrant local art scene.

We welcome submissions from Carleton MA and PhD students in art history and related fields.

Proposals

RENDER accepts proposals for exhibition reviews year-round. Submissions are open to graduate students at Carleton University.

Please send the following to render.journal@gmail.com, with the subject: Exhibition Review

• The title and location of the exhibition
• A brief description of the exhibition and the approach you intend to take
• The month you would like your review to be published

The journal committee will assess all proposals and notify authors. Successful students must submit their completed review for editing 10 days before the end of the month. All reviews are posted on the last day of the month.

Reviews

• 500 – 800 words
• Include the title, location, and dates of the exhibition at the beginning of the review
• Any references should be footnoted, Chicago style

Images

Images and permissions must be obtained from the institution in question. Please contact the journal committee if you have any questions regarding the acquisition and use of images for your review.
