I am pleased to introduce the sixth volume of RENDER! This volume would not have been possible without the help of many from the Carleton community. I would like to thank the Journal Committee, comprised of Jessie Gamarra, Katie Kendall, and my Assistant Editor, Hilary Dow, for their editing prowess, encouragement, advice, and support of this year’s Journal. I would especially like to thank Jack Coghill, who expertly (and enthusiastically!) publishes our online content throughout the year.

This volume concentrates on the meaning imbued by objects and spaces, focusing on architecture and material culture. I would like to thank our contributors, Jessie Gamarra, Meghan Ho, and Rebecca Semple, for their sound research, fascinating subjects, and contribution to the academic space that RENDER provides to the graduate community. It is my hope that RENDER continues to provide a space where ideas can be shared, where academic excellence is celebrated, and where peers can collaborate together to achieve these goals.
