Her research interests span developmental and social psychology, with a focus on understanding the individual, interpersonal, and contextual factors that influence psychological and social outcomes across development. Her work examines topics including child and adolescent development, peer relationships, bullying, social support, psychological well-being, psychological measurement, and intimate partner violence. She is particularly interested in applying quantitative research methods to better understand complex psychological and social phenomena and to inform research and practices that support positive outcomes.

Rachel’s doctoral research examines the bullying experiences of autistic children and adolescents through the lens of Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological systems theory. Although existing research has documented that autistic children and adolescents are between 2.3 and 6.4 times more likely than their non-autistic peers to experience bullying, much of the literature has treated autism diagnosis as the primary explanation for this disparity. Her dissertation seeks to move beyond diagnosis alone by examining how individual characteristics and the broader social and environmental contexts in which autistic children and adolescents develop may contribute to their vulnerability to bullying.

In particular, her research explores how individual and contextual risk and protective factors influence the bullying experiences of autistic children and adolescents. By applying a bioecological framework, her work aims to advance a more nuanced understanding of bullying among autistic children and adolescents and inform research and practices that better support their safety, inclusion, and well-being.

[25

post-311","cu_people","type-cu_people","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","cu_people_type-graduate-student
["GET
