The AVRC houses approximately 11,000 recordings of Jazz music, mostly in analogue form. These extensive collections are available for Carleton students to study and enjoy! Email the AVRC or come visit in person<\/a> to learn more about access to these recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This wealth of jazz music is the result of donations by Jacques Emond and Trevor Tolley. Read more about them below<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Emond collection\n <\/h2>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n \n\n

The Jacques Emond Jazz vinyl collection is made up of approximately 3300 LPs, and it is housed in 452 SP<\/strong>. Jacques Emond was a local Jazz enthusiast, former CKCU host<\/a>, and founding programming manager of the Ottawa Jazz Festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The bulk of the Emond Jazz collection (CDs) is available through the main library. Visit the Emond room to listen to vinyl recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div>\n\n

\n Tolley collection\n <\/h2>\n \n \n <\/header>\n\n \n\n

The Trevor Tolley Jazz Recording Collection<\/a> is housed in room 454 SP<\/strong>. Trevor Tolley was a Professor of English and a serious Jazz enthusiast and collector, who over a period of 75 years amassed more than 7,000 records, the bulk of which are 10\u2033, 78rpm recordings of pre-1942 Jazz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Contact us or come visit in person to chat with us about accessing these recordings! The Tolley room is available (by permission) for listening to records from this collection.<\/p>\n\n\n <\/div>\n\n
