There are two important winter term registration and withdrawal deadlines fast approaching.

January 19 is the last day for registration and course changes for the winter term.

January 31 is the last day to withdraw from winter and winter portion of fall/winter courses with a full fee adjustment.

OSAP Course Load Requirements

If you are contemplating making changes to your winter term course load, it’s important to know how it may affect your OSAP funding.

Minimum Required Course Load

For OSAP, your course load is expressed as a percentage of a full course load. The minimum required course load for Full-Time OSAP is 60% (40% if you have a permanent disability). Here is the conversion to credits:

Undergraduate Course Credits Per Term Course Load OSAP funding available
2.0 or more credits 100% Full-time
1.5 credits 60% Full–time
1.0 credits 40% Part-time, or full-time for students with a permanent disability
0.5 credits 20% Part-time

*Graduate students must be designated as a full-time graduate student by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs.

Withdrawing to Part-Time

If you reduce your course load below the minimum required for Full-Time OSAP, your OSAP funding will be reassessed. This can result in an overpayment and the possibility that any grants you received through OSAP will be converted to a loan. Withdrawing to part-time also affects your satisfactory academic progress (for OSAP purposes only) and OSAP may place you on academic probation, which can impact your eligibility to receive OSAP funding in the future.
