Students are admitted into the BGInS Honours (20 credit) degree.  There is no direct external admission into the BGInS General (15 credit) degree, though students in the Honours degree may transfer to the General degree.  Program templates for the two degrees are provided here:

The BGInS Honours degree consists of four inter-related components, each of which is discussed in more detail in the links below:

  1. A 4.5 credit core course sequence, which provides all students with a common multidisciplinary foundation in global and international studies;
  2. 17 Specializations of 7.5  credits each,  some defined thematically and some defined in terms of geographic regions of the world, from which students must chose one, and which allow students to acquire a more in-depth knowledge of a subject of particular interest to them;
  3. A language requirement intended to make students capable of engaging with another culture in a second language; and
  4. An International Experience Requirement (IER) to ensure that all students have practical experience of living and studying abroad.

The BGInS General degree consists of three inter-related components, each of which is discussed in more detail in the links below:

  1. A 4.0 credit core course sequence, which provides all students with a common multidisciplinary foundation in global and international studies;
  2. 17 Streams of 4.0 credits each,  some defined thematically and some defined in terms of geographic regions of the world, from which students must chose one, and which allow students to acquire more knowledge of a subject of particular interest to them; and
  3. A language requirement intended to make students capable of engaging with another culture in a second language.
