My research examines how intercultural encounters shape political identities, political thought, and political order in a globalized world. This research agenda encompasses three interconnected strands. The first explores the politics of civilizational narratives in historical and contemporary contexts, contributing to comparative political theory and debates on identity, difference, and coexistence. The second extends this comparative perspective to ethical questions, with particular attention to non-Western intellectual traditions, professional ethics, and the moral challenges at the intersection of local commitments and global responsibilities. A third and evolving strand of my research focuses on environmental sustainability in the Global South. I approach sustainability as a wicked problem and examine how political identities, competing ethical commitments, and institutional and resource constraints shape environmental governance and adaptation to climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I have received research funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada, the Qatar National Research Fund, and the U.S. National Science Foundation.
