The steps for Placement in Canada are as follows:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Log into Carleton Central<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select <strong>Travel Registry<\/strong> under the Personal Information tab in the Main Menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once in the Travel Registry function, select <strong>Add Travel Record<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Travel Information<\/strong> portion, enter in the start and end dates of your placement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Reason for my travel drop-down menu, select <strong>BGInS IER<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The six IER options will then appear in a new drop-down menu; select <strong>International Placement<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the remaining information in the <strong>Travel Contact Information (in this case, your employer&#8217;s information in Canada)<br><br><\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>submit<\/strong> once all information is entered<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"required-documentation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Documentation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once students have submitted their information in the Travel Registry, they are then able to upload required supporting documentation.<strong> Students will not be permitted to begin their placement without complete and accurate submission of required documentation.<\/strong> It is not possible to upload the documentation prior to completing the Travel Registry. You will be redirected to the document upload page once you have submitted your travel record. All documents have to be in PDF format, and no larger than 2MB in size.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Step 1: For each document, select the type, select the file from the source on your device and then upload the document<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Step 2: You will be able to review the documents for completion and accuracy before finalizing them to the Document Management System<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"all-students-participating-in-a-placement-within-canada-must-fill-out-and-complete-the-forms-listed-below\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">All students participating in a placement within Canada must fill out and complete the forms listed below.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bgins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/246\/Consent-to-publish-BGInS.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Consent to Publish<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bgins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/246\/Student-Contract-Placement-in-Canada.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Student Contract: Placement in Canada<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bgins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/246\/Unpaid-Placements-Letter-to-Placement-Employers-2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Unpaid Placement: Letter to Placement<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bgins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/246\/Unpaid-Placements-Student-Declaration-of-Understanding-and-Agreement-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Unpaid Placement: Student Declaration<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"additional-forms-required-for-gins-3900-or-gins-3901\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional forms required for GINS 3900 or GINS 3901<\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button \" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/bgins\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/246\/Employer-Assessment-Placement-1.pdf\">Placement Employer Assessment Form<\/a><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<p>All students participating in a placement in Canada must register in an appropriate Carleton course during the term they are on placement.&nbsp; For most BGInS students, this will normally be GINS 3900 (0.5 credits) or GINS 3901 (1.0 credits).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students registered in GINS 3900 or GINS 3901 must consult with <a href=\"mailto:marylynn.steckley@carleton.ca\">Prof. Marylynn Steckley<\/a>, about the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">academic<\/span> content of their placement.&nbsp; The grade for their placement course will be assessed by Prof. Steckley.&nbsp; Part of this grade will be based on the workplace supervisor&#8217;s assessment of the student&#8217;s performance on the job.&nbsp; This assessment must be completed by the supervisor at the end of the placement, using the Employer Assessment Form above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Placement in Canada &#8211; Necessary Documents Travel Registry All students going on Placement must complete the Travel Registry on Carleton Central.
