A&nbsp;<strong>Provost Scholar<\/strong>&nbsp;exemplifies student engagement when one\u2019s academic experience encompasses activities in two or more of the four pillars of the Discovery Centre programs \u2013 community based projects or&nbsp;international experience, immersive learning and undergraduate research. Below is an excerpt from a nomination letter from Professor Kamari Clarke:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>As one of the high achieving students in the new Bachelor in Global and International Studies, Patricia Wallinger has established herself as among the university\u2019s elite through her receipt of the Provost\u2019s Scholar Award.&nbsp; The award is given to students who have achieved academic excellent and exemplary engagement in two or more areas \u2013 community based projects or&nbsp;international experience, immersive learning and undergraduate research. Patricia was recognized for her involvement in two central projects: One is an employment based organization known as Amano Gardens that serves as a local landscape and garden maintenance project.&nbsp; The other is a community project with an aboriginal community in Argentina that helps to feed over 200 primary school children. The garden not only serves to address the immediate needs of the children for nutritious food, but it also provides a new generation with the skills and experience needed to help their community along the path to self sufficiency. In addition to her stellar academic performance and these engaged projects, she also has worked as a research intern at Carleton conducting primary research related to international legal treaty concerns related to the International Criminal Court and the African Union.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Patricia is celebrated for being an ideal global citizen. She speaks four languages and understands what it takes to make a difference in the world.
