Use Carleton Central to create draft worksheets to prepare for multiple scenarios each term. Pay close attention to error messages which will help you identify possible issues before your actual registration time ticket opens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#audit\">Go through each requirement listed on your audit<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#calendar\">Compare those requirements to the Undergraduate Calendar<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#offerings\">Check the course offerings to see if courses not yet fulfilled are being offered<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once you register in courses,&nbsp;<a href=\"#again\">run your audit again<\/a>&nbsp;to see if the courses appear where you expected them to, and to confirm they will count toward your degree.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"1-your-academic-audit\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Your Academic Audit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"audit\">The first step to checking your required courses is to run your academic audit. Your audit will show you which courses are still required to complete your degree. Run your audit regularly throughout your degree as this is a personalized tool to make sure you are on track to graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/how-to-read-your-audit\/\">How to Read your Audit<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Run a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/why-add-planned-courses\/\">Planned Courses<\/a>&nbsp;audit to determine whether your course selections will meet your degree requirements. You can even assign hypothetical grades to determine how your GPA would change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Run a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/academicadvising\/your-academic-audit\/what-if-audit\/\">What-If<\/a>&nbsp;audit if you are considering changing your major, minor, or specialization. This type of audit will show you how your completed courses would count in the new program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"2-the-undergraduate-calendar\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><\/a>2. Review the list of courses that are being offered in the summer or fall and winter semesters in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/central.carleton.ca\/prod\/bwysched.p_select_term?wsea_code=EXT\">Public Class Schedule<\/a>&nbsp;or on Carleton Central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Map out your courses<\/strong>&nbsp;for future terms through to graduation. Courses are often offered in the same semesters each year, so make note of your degree requirements and if the course is generally a fall term course or a winter term course. Consider required prerequisites when you plot out the order in which you will complete your required courses. Priority registration goes to students for whom the course is mandatory in their current degree program. Students in programs which list the course as an option can submit a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/override-requests\/\">Registration Override Request<\/a> (see below) if they are not able to immediately register. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">Prerequisites and Year Standing:<\/strong> The Institute of Biochemistry enforces all course prerequisites and program requirements as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.carleton.ca\/undergrad\/undergradprograms\/biochemistry\/#courseinventory\">Undergraduate Calendar<\/a>.&nbsp;Registration in any given course is dependent on satisfying all prerequisites and meeting the necessary year standing requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are unable to register in a course <strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\">required to graduate<\/strong> at the end of the current academic year, please submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/registration\/override-requests\/\">Registration Override Request<\/a> immediately. The Institute will evaluate your rationale and make a decision. We aim to review all overrides before August 1. Note that some overrides may remain pending through to September.
