Tracking plastic pollution via seabirds has informed policy reduction targets in Europe, but as we learn more about the source and fate of plastic pollution standardized methods are allowing us to gain insight how plastics may be vectors for chemical contaminants in biota, and how birds may be a vector themselves for plastics to move from the marine to the terrestrial environment, illustrating the widespread impact plastics may have on ecosystem health. This talk will discuss what we know about plastic pollution via wildlife indicator species, what questions emerging fields are trying to address, and the next steps in understanding how plastic pollution affects ecosystems, both in the marina and terrestrial environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"cu_event_type":[43],"cu_event_audience":[14,15,16,17,18,19,20,21],"class_list":["post-7381","cu_event","type-cu_event","status-publish","hentry","cu_event_type-seminar-series","cu_event_audience-alumni","cu_event_audience-anyone","cu_event_audience-carleton-community","cu_event_audience-current-students","cu_event_audience-faculty","cu_event_audience-media","cu_event_audience-prospective-students","cu_event_audience-staff"],"acf":{"cu_event_start_date":"2019-05-10T14:30:00","cu_event_end_date":"2019-05-10T15:30:00","cu_event_location_type":"in-person","cu_event_meeting_address_type":"on-campus","cu_building":"TT","cu_event_meeting_room":"4440Q","cu_event_meeting_address_full":null,"cu_event_virtual_type":"tbd","cu_event_virtual_meeting_link":"","cu_post_thumbnail":false,"cu_event_cost":"","cu_event_registration":"","cu_event_secondary_button":"","cu_event_contact_name":"","cu_event_email":"","cu_event_phone":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event\/7381","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/cu_event"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event\/7381\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":7650,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event\/7381\/revisions\/7650"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7381"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"cu_event_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event_type?post=7381"},{"taxonomy":"cu_event_audience","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/biology\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/cu_event_audience?post=7381"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
