Biology); Howard Rundle (U of Ottawa, Dept. Biology)<\/p>\n<p>Carleton&#8217;s Faculty of Science and the Office of the Vice President (Research &amp; International) are official sponsors of the\u00a0<em>First Joint Congress on Evolutionary Biology<\/em>\u00a0(aka \u2018<em>Evolution 2012\u2019<\/em>). \u00a0 \u00a0This landmark event will bring together five of the world\u2019s largest academic societies devoted to the study of ecology and evolutionary biology: the\u00a0<em>American Society of Naturalists<\/em>\u00a0(ASN), the\u00a0<em>Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution<\/em>\u00a0(CSEE) the\u00a0<em>European Society for Evolutionary Biology<\/em>\u00a0(ESEB), the\u00a0<em>Society for the Study of Evolution<\/em>\u00a0(SSE), and the\u00a0<em>Society of Systematic Biologists<\/em>\u00a0(SSB). The meeting will be the premier showcase in 2012 for the presentation and discussion among peers of the latest, leading-edge research in ecology and evolution, and will also be an important forum for outreach and education.\u00a0Notably, two free public outreach seminars\u00a0are open to the general public, and no registration is required:<\/p>\n<p>1) Stephen J.
