For her interdisciplinary and inclusive approach to fish and fisheries research in East Africa, the South Pacific, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Northwest, she has been named a National Geographic Explorer, Fellow of the explorers Club, and NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassador.
