The paper touches on volatile organic compounds, and whether or not they can save bats from white-nose syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>The white-nose syndrome fungus,\u00a0<em>Pseudogymnoascus<\/em>\u00a0<em>destructans<\/em>, colonizes the skin of hibernating bats,\u00a0<a title=\"leading\" href=\"https:\/\/bmcphysiol.biomedcentral.com\/articles\/10.1186\/s12899-014-0010-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">leading<\/a>\u00a0to dehydration, electrolyte loss, and eventually starvation.
