Carleton has implemented a campus-wide enterprise license for Zoom. The enterprise license will allow for single sign-on (SSO) and integration with Brightspace, Carleton’s new learning management system. In order to prepare for Zoom’s integration in Brightspace, you will need to check, and possibly reconfigure, the email address associated with your Zoom account.

All Carleton users may still use Zoom independent of Brightspace, via the Zoom portal.  For information about setting up and using Zoom within Brightspace, visit the Zoom in Brightspace support page.

Confirming the Email Address Associated with Your Zoom Account

Carleton University has a long-form email address for its users and a short, simplified form email address.

Most Carleton Zoom users are currently registered with Zoom using their simplified @carleton email address, which is firstname.lastname@carleton.ca. This @carleton email address is the address users login to Zoom with via the Zoom portal.

If your Zoom account is configured using the @carleton email address, you will need to update the @carleton email address to the Carleton long-form email address: either fullname@cunet.carleton.ca or fullname@cmail.carleton.ca. To check which email account you should update your Zoom account to, visit the Carleton Email Confirmation Webpage and enter your MyCarleton One (MC1) account information (your MC1 credentials are the login and password you use to access the Carleton network, Brightspace, and other Carleton web applications.)

The webpage will display the email account you should use when updating your Zoom email to enable an integration into Carleton’s ITS systems. See the screenshot below for a visual of the email confirmation website illustrating the long form email address:fullname@cunet.carleton.ca.

Changing the Email Associated with Your Zoom account

In order to prepare for the integration of Zoom into Carleton IT systems, we need you to reconfigure the email address associated with your Zoom account.

If you are currently using Carleton’s simplified email address, in this format: firstname.lastname@carleton.ca to log into Zoom, you need to change the associated email address to the address specified on the Email Confirmation Webpage. The email will either be fullname@cunet.carleton.ca or fullname@cmail.carleton.ca, where fullname is the name that you use to access cuLearn, Brightspace, and other Carleton systems (also called MyCarletonOne username).

Please follow these instructions to make this change: Note the screenshots illustrate an @cunet.carleton.ca example

  1. Sign into the Zoom web portal.
  2. Click Profile.
  3. Click Edit next to Sign-In Email.

  1. Enter your updated email address based (use your Carleton email address reported from the Carleton Email Confirmation Webpage): fullname@cunet.carleton.ca or fullname@cmail.carleton.ca; whichever one is reported by the Email Confirmation webpage. In the example shown, fullname@cunet.carleton.ca was reported.
  2. Enter in your current Zoom password and check the “I’m not a robot box”.
  3. Click Save Changes.

A confirmation email will be sent to the updated email address. You will need to click the confirmation prompt in that email before the email address is updated.

Please note that once your email address has been changed, you will use this updated email address to login into the Zoom portal to schedule your meetings, view previously recorded sessions, and download meeting reports.  Zoom will also now be setup to work seamlessly within Brightspace for meetings hosted inside the learning management system.  For more information about the integration between Zoom and Brightspace, visit the Zoom in Brightspace support page.

If you require support or assistance with changing the email address associated with your Zoom account, visit the TLS Support Portal.
