In May 2023, Big Blue Button (BBB) will reach end of life in D2L Brightspace. Brightspace users will no longer be able to create and host new BBB sessions in their courses. Please download and save any materials from past BBB sessions in Brightspace before April 30, 2023. On this page, you will find instructions on how to download your BBB recordings and upload them to Kaltura MediaSpace.

Instructors are encouraged to transition to Zoom for their online classes and meetings. For additional resources on using Zoom in Brightspace, please visit our Zoom in Brightspace support page. Accessing BigBlueButton Recordings in Brightspace

  1. Log in to Brightspace using your MyCarletonOne credentials.
  2. On the Brightspace homepage, locate your course in one of the following ways:
    • Click on the course tile under the My Courses widget.
    • Click the Course Selector Grid  and select the course from the drop-down menu. If you are enrolled in more than 20 courses, you can search for the course name using the search bar.
  3. In the navbar, click Content to expand the Content area on the left side of your course page.
  4. In the left sidebar under Table of Contents, click on the module/week section that you added your BBB room to. Alternatively, you can scroll down your table of content page to locate the link.
  5. Click on your BigBlueButton meeting link.
  6. Click on the BBB link you used to host/record the session. Your completed recording will automatically appear under the Recordings heading (see image below).
NOTE: Longer recordings may take longer to appear because the video processing time is longer. If the session was recent, you may need to wait several hours to a day for the server to complete processing the recording before it will appear in the list.
  7. Under Recordings, click video or presentation to view your recorded session.
TIP: You can click statistics to access an overview of your session, a breakdown of student engagement during your session, poll results, etc. You can also download a CSV. file of your session statistics.
NOTE: Students will automatically be able to view the recording when they click on the BBB session link on your cuLearn course page.  To make your recording private, click the lock icon under the Toolbar.
