Associating a category with a survey allows survey to be grouped by category in the survey list page.\n<ul>\n<li>To categorize your survey in an existing category, select the <strong>category<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.<\/li>\n<li>To create a new category, select <strong>Add category<\/strong> and enter a category name.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Feedback<\/strong> (optional) &#8211; If you want your students to instantly receive feedback, select the <strong>give instant feedback<\/strong> checkbox. This option will remove the Submit option from a non-editable survey. Any feedback entered for a question is instantly available to a user taking the survey.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Anonymous<\/strong> (optional)\u00a0&#8211; If you want your students to respond anonymously, select the <strong>make results anonymous<\/strong> checkbox. This option suppresses the display of any user data in survey results. See the Question Library page for more instructions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Description\/Submission Message<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Select <strong>Expand description<\/strong>\/<strong>submission Message <\/strong>to add a <em>Description<\/em> that students will see before they complete the survey or a <em>Submission<\/em> message that students will see when they complete the survey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Page Footer<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Select <strong>Expand page footer\u00a0<\/strong>to add a footer that will appear at the bottom of your survey.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Under the <em>Restrictions<\/em> tab, you have the following options:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Hide from Users<\/strong> &#8211; This option is selected by default so your survey is hidden while you are setting it up.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Availability<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Select the\u00a0<strong>Has Start Date<\/strong> checkbox to set a Start Date for the survey, then enter the date and time.<\/li>\n<li>Select the\u00a0<strong>Has End Date<\/strong> checkbox to set an End Date for the survey, and enter the date and time.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Display in Calendar<\/strong> if you want the due date to be visible to students in the course calendar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Release Conditions<\/strong> &#8211; See the <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/brightspace\/instructors\/creating-release-conditions\/\">Creating Release Conditions<\/a> page for instructions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Attempts Allowed <\/strong>&#8211; Choose one of the following options in the drop-down menu:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Unlimited<\/strong> &#8211; The user can take the survey as many times as they want. Each attempt of the survey is recorded separately.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Single attempt that is editable<\/strong> &#8211; The user has a single survey attempt that they can re-access to edit their responses as long as the survey is still available to them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Limited<\/strong> &#8211; The user can take the survey the specified number of times. Each attempt of the survey will be recorded separately. When you select this option, you will need to enter the number of attempts permitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Special Access\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; The default selection is <strong>Allow selected users special access to this survey<\/strong>.
