For assessments that are graded outside of Brightspace, you need to create a grade item, then manually enter student grades into the gradebook. Examples of assessments where you may need to manually enter grades include participation grades, offline midterms, and student presentation grades.<br \/>\nThere are two ways you can manually enter grades in Brightspace:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#spreadsheet1\">Spreadsheet view<\/a> &#8211; Enter grades for all students and all grade items in a single spreadsheet view.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#standard1\">Standard view (by grade item)<\/a> &#8211; Enter grades for a single grade item for an individual student, or all students in the course.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a id=\"spreadsheet1\"><\/a>Entering Grades Manually in Spreadsheet View<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Log into <a href=\"https:\/\/brightspace.carleton.ca\/\">Brightspace<\/a> using your <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">MyCarletonOne<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0credentials.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233279&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li>On the\u00a0<em>Brightspace<\/em>\u00a0homepage, locate your course in one of the following ways:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\">\n<li>Select the course tile under the <em>My Courses\u00a0<\/em>widget.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <b>Course Selector Grid\u00a0<\/b><i><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/culearnsupport\/students\/wp-content\/uploads\/Screen-Shot-2020-11-02-at-8.15.40-PM.png\" width=\"22\" height=\"20\" data-imagetype=\"External\" \/>\u00a0<\/i>and select the course from the drop-down menu.
