Th<\/span><\/span>is troubleshooting document was designed to help\u00a0<\/span><\/span>instructors<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>course designers find and fix Moodle content that has been migrated into D2L Brightspace.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If you need assistance with your\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Brightspace\u00a0<\/span><\/span>course setup, or with\u00a0<\/span><\/span>finding solutions to broken tools, please visit the TLS support portal<\/a> to complete a support request. <\/span><\/span>We are happy to help you find solutions that will work for your course goals!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
NOTE:\u00a0 <\/strong>Some tools do not migrate from\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Moodle<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to Brightspace. This means they disappear during the migration process and none of the material will transfer in any form. They will need to be recreated or reworked using Brightspace tools.<\/span><\/span> Please see the table below for specifics on each tool.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

BigBlueButton<\/span><\/span> was a web-conferencing tool used <\/span><\/span>to host<\/span><\/span> lectures or office hours, but is no longer available in Brightspace<\/a>. It is recommended to use Zoom in place of BigBlueButton. For more information on using Zoom, visit our Zoom at Carleton<\/a> support page.<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n

  • Forums in Moodle migrate into Brightspace but cause redundancies. In Brightspace, the word forum refers to a category or group of discussion topics. You must have a forum before you can add a discussion topic (i.e., the site for the posts and replies to appear).

  • Forum grading\/gradebook association does not transfer to Brightspace and will need to be re-linked.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n

  • Access Discussions from Course Admin, delete any Discussions that have been imported without Description content. Review Forums and Discussions in Brightspace to remove redundancies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Re-link the Discussion to the associated grade item in the gradebook<\/li>\n

The lesson tool allows users to create a guided learning path, including videos, assessments, and text.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

Links (URL)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Direct links to external webpages or videos, such as YouTube content.<\/span><\/span><\/td>\n

Pages<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pages are used to present larger pieces of text such as lecture notes or instructions. They can hold videos,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>photos<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and links.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/td>\n

  • Pages migrate into Brightspace as Files. The formatting (font, size, spacing) may need to be reformatted for proper visual display<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
