Brightspace assignment submissions can be downloaded in multi-file\/bulk offline grading. When assignments are downloaded in bulk, Brightspace auto assigns an ID number to each copied submission file. The ID number that Brightspace assigns during the copying process makes it hard to alphabetize the submissions and filter assignments by student name.<\/p>\n

The Bulk Assignment Renamer removes the ID Number in front of all the student names in the folders of downloaded assignment submissions. Renaming assignments using this tool will allow instructors to sort the folders by the students’ names.<\/p>\n

Convert Downloaded Assignments to Alphabetical Order<\/h2>\n

Use this converter tool to rename Brightspace assignment files that have been bulk downloaded<\/a>. Follow the steps below to bulk rename assignment files:<\/p>\n

NOTE: <\/strong>The original submission file always resides in Brightspace. When you bulk download the assignments for offline grading, you are actually downloading a copy. The converter tool will only remove the ID number from the copied files and put the student’s name first, it will not change the student’s original submission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

  1. Download your Brightspace assignment submissions<\/a> as a ZIP file on your computer.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Select the Choose File<\/strong> button below and select the recently downloaded ZIP file from your Downloads folder. The converted file will download automatically.<\/li>\n
  3. Open the converted folder and view the student submissions.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Un-Convert Assignments Back to Numerical ID Order<\/h2>\n

    Use this converter to re-assign the ID number to Brightspace assignment submissions so that the graded submissions can be uploaded back to Brightspace.<\/p>\n

    1. ZIP the previously converted folder containing all the assignment submissions.<\/li>\n
    2. Select the Choose File<\/strong> button below and select the ZIP file. The converted file will download automatically.<\/li>\n
