{"id":1024,"date":"2023-06-29T11:45:39","date_gmt":"2023-06-29T15:45:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/caber\/?post_type=cu-people&#038;p=1024"},"modified":"2025-12-17T10:01:22","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T15:01:22","slug":"john-dikeos","status":"publish","type":"cu-people","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/caber\/people\/john-dikeos\/","title":{"rendered":"John Dikeos"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">John joined the CABER group in May 2023.\u00a0 His PhD studies are focused on deep energy retrofits using panelized walls that incorporate wood-based products, including a wood frame and wood fiber insulation.\u00a0 The goal of this research is to optimize the design of these panels through experimental and numerical methods to help facilitate lower cost and more sustainable retrofits of existing buildings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">John is leveraging over 15 years of experience as an energy management consultant, which he is continuing on part-time basis during his PhD studies. \u00a0His work for utility and government clients has focused on assessments of energy efficiency technologies, energy efficiency potential studies, the design and implementation of innovative demand-side management (DSM) programs, and the development and delivery of relevant training material.\u00a0 More recently, John has acted as a senior leader on projects and his consulting work has focused on pressing topics such as decarbonization, electrification, and non-pipe solutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">John is a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Ontario, a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), and a Certified Measurement and Verification Professional (CMVP). \u00a0He also holds Master\u2019s and Bachelor\u2019s degrees in Mechanical Engineering, with his prior graduate research as part of the Integrated Energy Systems group at the University of Victoria (IESVic) focused on the optimization of magnetic refrigeration systems.\u00a0 As part of this prior research, he developed and experimentally validated a finite element model of the magnetic refrigeration test apparatus.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><b>Publications:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Dikeos, J. and Rowe, A.
