The Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue, the Centre for European Studies (EUCE), and the University of Ottawa\u00a0Faculty of Law are pleased to present an EU Competition Law Lecture with Professor Pierre Larouche<\/a>, Tilburg Law School, Tilburg University, Netherlands, on \u201cInnovative Markets in EU Competition Law: Intel, MasterCard, Google, and FRAND cases (Motorola, Samsung) \u2013 Theory, practice, and comparative perspective<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abstract: This lecture will review the most recent cases concerning so-called \u201cinnovative markets\u201d under EU competition law: the Intel judgment (12 June 2014), the MasterCard judgment (11 September 2014), and the ongoing Google case, as well as the Commission decisions on Motorola and Samsung (29 April 2014).\u00a0 Building on the explanation of each case in its context, the lecture then compares those cases to their US counterparts before venturing a theoretical explanation for observed differences between the US and the EU.<\/p>\n

This lecture is free and open to the public.
