While Canada is represented in all international economic institutions, it is more of a policy-taker than a policy-maker in global economic affairs. The EU, on the other hand, is seen as the global pace-setter in the field of regional economic integration. Recently, this position has come under siege due to the serious challenges faced by the European monetary integration project. In light of challenges such as the economic and financial crises, as well as negotiations over a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), this thematic area continues to be of high importance. Areas of research interest include: legal issues involved in Canada-EU economic relations; the EU\u2019s internal economic system; economic, monetary, and financial integration; Canada\u2019s involvement in bilateral foreign investment relations with Europe and the positioning of financial industries; Canada-EU Open Skies and air transport policies; as well as innovation policies in both entities.<\/p>\n<h3><b><strong>Comp\u00e9tition et coop\u00e9ration \u00e9conomique, et le droit international<\/strong><\/b><\/h3>\n<p>\u00c0 travers sa combinaison d\u2019expertise sur l\u2019int\u00e9gration \u00e9conomique et mon\u00e9taire ainsi que sur les questions juridiques, ce groupe de recherche th\u00e9matique s\u2019int\u00e9resse essentiellement aux engagements \u00e9conomiques mutuellement profitables du Canada et de l\u2019UE. Bien que le Canada soit repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 dans toutes les institutions \u00e9conomiques internationales, il est plut\u00f4t per\u00e7u comme un client que comme un producteur de politique dans la sph\u00e8re \u00e9conomique mondiale. L\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne, par contre, s\u2019impose au niveau global comme un mod\u00e8le d\u2019int\u00e9gration \u00e9conomique r\u00e9gionale. R\u00e9cemment, cette position a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9rieusement remise en cause par les difficult\u00e9s du projet d\u2019int\u00e9gration mon\u00e9taire europ\u00e9enne. Devant des d\u00e9fis tels que les crises financi\u00e8res et \u00e9conomiques, ainsi que les n\u00e9gociations sur un Accord \u00c9conomique et Commercial Global (AECG), cette th\u00e9matique continue d\u2019\u00eatre d\u2019une grande importance.
