Its complex governance structure poses difficulties for Canadian policymakers, especially when related to foreign policy issues. This research group\u00a0 attempts to fill the knowledge gap by providing expertise in four main areas including (1) EU foreign policy decision-making structures and processes, (2) European defence and security initiatives and their implications for Canada, (3) internal\/homeland security in Europe and North America in comparative perspective, and (4) EU policies in conflict management and Canada\u2019s ability to shape responses. Sa complexe structure de gouvernance pose de nombreuses difficult\u00e9s aux d\u00e9cideurs canadiens, et ce particuli\u00e8rement lorsqu\u2019il s\u2019agit de politique \u00e9trang\u00e8re.
