{"id":2937,"date":"2015-08-17T15:21:15","date_gmt":"2015-08-17T19:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canadaeurope\/?p=2937"},"modified":"2015-08-17T15:21:15","modified_gmt":"2015-08-17T19:21:15","slug":"workshop-climate-change-and-renewable-energy-policy-in-the-eu-and-canada-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canadaeurope\/2015\/workshop-climate-change-and-renewable-energy-policy-in-the-eu-and-canada-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop: Climate Change and Renewable Energy Policy in the EU and Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue and the <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/ces\/\" target=\"_blank\">Centre for European Studies (EU Centre of Excellence)<\/a> are pleased to present a <a href=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/ces\/cu-events\/climate-change-and-renewable-energy-policy-in-the-eu-and-canada-workshop\/\" target=\"_blank\">policy workshop<\/a> on climate change and renewable energy, to be held October 1-2, 2015 at Carleton University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canadaeurope\/wp-content\/uploads\/CES-CETD-Climate-Change-and-Renewable-Energy-Workshop-Poster.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2974 size-thumbnail\" title=\"Climate Change and Renewable Energy Policy in the EU and Canada-Workshop Poster\" src=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canadaeurope\/wp-content\/uploads\/Climate-Change-and-Renewable-Energy-Policy-Workshop-Poster-Image-160x250.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"160\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the lead-up to the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in December 2015, national and provincial leaders are\u00a0searching for and debating\u00a0appropriate policies for Canada&#8217;s position. At this workshop, experts and practitioners from Europe and Canada will devote particular attention to the role of \u2018new\u2019 renewables, such as wind and solar technologies, in addressing climate change, including issues of public acceptance, policy innovation, and sources of action\/inertia in government responses. The potential for cities, provinces, national governments, and supranational bodies to serve as \u2018leadership points\u2019 will be explored, along with the way in which the European Union has motivated such initiatives.
