{"id":12912,"date":"2023-12-19T08:41:32","date_gmt":"2023-12-19T13:41:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canadianstudies\/?p=12912"},"modified":"2023-12-19T08:41:32","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T13:41:32","slug":"congratulations-to-ma-student-gyn-wylie-on-the-completion-of-her-mrp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canadianstudies\/2023\/congratulations-to-ma-student-gyn-wylie-on-the-completion-of-her-mrp\/","title":{"rendered":"Congratulations to MA student Gyn Wylie on the completion of her MRP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MA student <em>Gyn Wylie<\/em> has completed a Major Research Paper entitled <em><strong>&#8220;Displaced Heritage: Place Attachment, the Loss of Land, and the Effects on Community Identity.&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Adopting a &#8216;heritage from below&#8217; approach, the project examines community perspectives on heritage after the mid-twentieth century construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway, which produced dislocations for the Mohawk communities of Akwesasne and Kahnawake and settler-colonial villages in southeastern Ontario. The research was co-supervised by Professors Susan Ross, from the School of Canadian Studies, and John Walsh, from the Department of History.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Congratulations on the completion of this
