{"id":2028,"date":"2026-03-12T07:38:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T11:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canch4\/?page_id=2028"},"modified":"2026-04-10T13:04:25","modified_gmt":"2026-04-10T17:04:25","slug":"poster-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canch4\/poster-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Poster Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Poster Guidelines<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you are presenting a poster, please review and follow these simple steps below:<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>1 &#8211; Prepare your poster<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure that your poster has the following dimensions: maximum 46&#8243; high x 35&#8243; wide<\/li>\n<li>Please select the layout with <em><strong>portrait<\/strong> <\/em>orientation, as each poster board will display two <em><strong>vertical<\/strong> <\/em>posters side by side<\/li>\n<li>Please name the poster using the following file naming convention:\n<ul>\n<li>Last name of the presenting author &#8211; Title of abstract (E.g. \u201c<em>DoeJ_etal_Ilovemethane.pdf<\/em>\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Please feel free to use this pre-sized .pptx poster template as a starting point:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"u-center-text\">\n\t<p>\n\t\t<a class=\"button__red button__red--outline\" href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canch4\/wp-content\/uploads\/PresentingAuthor-et-al-PresentationTitle-2026.pptx\" target=&quot;_blank&quot; rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Poster Template<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>2 &#8211; Submit your electronic copy<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Please\u00a0email us\u00a0<strong>a PDF copy<\/strong>\u00a0of your final poster\u00a0<strong>by May 15th 11:59PM (PT)<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0<a href=\"&#x6d;a&#x69;&#108;&#x74;&#111;:&#x69;n&#x66;&#111;&#x40;&#99;a&#x6e;&#99;&#x68;&#52;&#46;&#x63;a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>&#x69;&#x6e;&#x66;&#x6f;&#x40;&#x63;&#x61;&#110;&#99;&#104;&#52;&#46;ca<\/strong><\/a>. The electronic copies will be posted on the conference website for our virtual attendees (protected by an access code)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>3 &#8211; Print with Carleton<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>We encourage you to print your posters with Carleton University&#8217;s PrintShop at special symposium rates:\n<ul>\n<li>$65 + HST for posters printed on glossy poster paper,<\/li>\n<li>$75 + HST for posters printed on vinyl.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Upload your PDF below and complete your selection and payment\u00a0<strong>by May 12th 11:59PM (PT).<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Once printed, our team will pick it up and set it up for you in the poster area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<div class=\"u-center-text\">\n\t<p>\n\t\t<a class=\"button__red button__red--outline\" href=\"https:\/\/payments.carleton.ca\/canch4\/poster-printing\/\" target=&quot;_blank&quot; rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Upload and Print!<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n<h4><em><strong>Bringing your own poster?\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p>Simply let our team know during check-in! We will supply push pins and guide you to the assigned board in the poster area.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>4 &#8211; Present!<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The event\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/canch4\/agenda\/\">agenda<\/a> includes dedicated 1-hour slots for the poster discussions. Please make sure that you or your co-authors are present at your poster and available for questions and discussions. At the end of the event, you are welcome to take your poster home.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h4><em><strong>Bonus poster tips!<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Use a large, legible font size for all text on your poster:\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Title banner should be legible from 20 feet away<\/li>\n<li>Body text should legible from 6 feet away<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Utilize headings and subheadings effectively to make the content visually distinct.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid overcrowding your poster with long paragraphs. Whenever possible, present information in concise bullet points, graphs and images.<\/li>\n<li>Opt for light backgrounds with dark text to\u00a0ensure readability.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that all figures, graphs, photos, and visual content are high-quality and clear.
