The Jean Monnet Network is pleased to host a public lecture, The Changing Security Landscape in Northern Europe: What Role for NATO and the EU? with Professor Toms Rostoks, University of Latvia.

About the lecture: 2014 was a turning point for European security and for NATO. While security concerns of countries in Central and Northern Europe have increased, the military conflict in Ukraine has given a renewed sense of purpose to the Alliance. The lecture examines the changing security dynamics in Northern Europe and the responses of the Northern European (both NATO and non-NATO) countries to the military conflict in Ukraine.

Speaker: Dr. Rostoks is an Associate Professor of international relations at the University of Latvia and a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Security and Strategic Studies at the National Defence Academy of Latvia. He  is an expert on EU and Latvian foreign policy. His current research interests include Russia’s military doctrine, Latvian-Russian relations, foreign policy decision-making, and the relationship between public opinion and foreign policy.
