{"id":1341,"date":"2019-11-08T14:57:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-08T19:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/caneunet\/?p=1341"},"modified":"2019-11-08T14:57:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-08T19:57:00","slug":"carleton-graduate-student-internship-contributes-to-published-journal-article","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/caneunet\/2019\/carleton-graduate-student-internship-contributes-to-published-journal-article\/","title":{"rendered":"Carleton Graduate Student Internship Contributes to Published Journal Article"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Graduate student, Nadiya Safonova, in her second year as a master&#8217;s degree student with the Institute of European Russian and Eurasian Studies (<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/eurus\/\">EURUS<\/a>), traveled to Darmstadt, Germany, for a two month research internship where she joined a team of researchers at Technical University of Darmstadt.<\/p>\n<p>During her internship, she contributed to the research article, &#8220;Frames and images facing Ukraine: comparing Germany&#8217;s and Russia&#8217;s media perceptions of the EU relations with Ukraine&#8221;, which was published earlier this year in a special issue of the international online journal, <em>Cognition, Communication, Discourse. <\/em>With co-authors, Katharina Kleinschnitger and Mich\u00e8le Knodt, both at Technical University of Darmstadt, the published article uses data from 2009-2015 to analyze how relations between the EU and Ukraine were portrayed in German and Russian print media.<span class=\"label\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.26565\/2218-2926-2018-17-03\">Read the full article here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Nadiya received a grant for this research internship from the Jean Monnet Network, which is funded by a grant by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/programmes\/erasmus-plus\/\">Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union<\/a> and by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carleton.ca\">Carleton University<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Graduate student, Nadiya Safonova, in her second year as a master&#8217;s degree student with the Institute of European Russian and Eurasian Studies (EURUS), traveled to Darmstadt, Germany, for a two month research internship where she joined a team of researchers at Technical University of Darmstadt.
