IBM Z Career Connection Event

Who this is for: Open to all students and alumni interested in a career in technology.
What you will get out of it: Learn more about a career in mainframe and IBM Z technology, get introduced to the IBM Z Xplore platform, meet professionals in the Ottawa area currently using the IBM Z technology, and learn how to qualify for a virtual IBM Z career fair on November 14.
Join us to learn all about IBM Z, the extremely powerful computers making the financial world go round with a focus on security, AI, and open source tech! This event is designed to introduce students and alumni to IBM Z technology, show you how to learn the relevant skills through free IBM Z Xplore training courses, and introduce you to clients in the area who are looking to hire in the near future.
Following this event, participants can access the training courses at home in preparation for IBM’s virtual career fair on November 14. Career fair attendants must complete IBM Z Xplore courses prior to the event to be paired with potential employers.
What to Expect
- Listen to presenters and view a multimedia presentation.
- The presentation will likely include a live demonstration of the IBM Z Xplore platform, which you can follow along with on your device.
How to Prepare
- Research IBM Z, IBM Z Xplore, and the November 14 career fair ahead of time. Learn more about each items at the following links:
- Be prepared for interactive portions of the session. Have a laptop or device with you that you are comfortable using to follow along with live web platform demonstrations.
- Get your resume updated prior to the IBM career fair! Consider visiting Career Services (401 Tory Building) for a review of your resume; drop-in hours are Monday-Friday 1-4pm.
- Dress for success! Plan to dress as if you were going to a job interview. It is recommended to wear business casual for this type of event.
