We offer a range of&nbsp; workshops, each topic designed for a specific student demographic. Review the list of topics and learning outcomes for each workshop below. class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is Career Services?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: Undergraduate and graduate students, support staff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recognize how various experiences can help inform their career paths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the events, services and resources offered by Career Services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"your-career-starts-now\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your Career Starts Now!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: 1st and 2nd year students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify the events, services and resources offered by Career Services that can help them begin their career planning now<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dispel common career myths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Gain an increase in clarity about the career planning process by reviewing the four stages in the \u201cCareer Ready\u201d Cycle<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover online resources that can help them learn about career options that align with their interests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize the importance of experiential learning as a method of career researching and some of the key programs and resources available to them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-can-i-do-with-my-degree\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Can I Do With My Degree?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: 3rd and 4th year students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify services, resources and events offered by Career Services<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify Carleton University\u2019s Career Competencies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recognize the importance of self-knowledge in career planning and targeting a job search<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Find out how to identify skills and employment opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover new job search strategies, tools and the hidden job market<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify different networking tools and strategies to expand networking opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"resume-and-cover-letter-development\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Resume and Cover Letter Development<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: Undergraduate and graduate students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify the resume style that best highlights their skills and experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop the ability to format a targeted resume for specific positions and organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover how to identify and best market transferable skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dissect a job description by reviewing transferable skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the purpose and sections of a cover letter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distill and highlight developed skills through a review of past experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write and CV<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop the ability to format a targeted CV for specific positions and organizations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discover how to identify and best market transferable skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distill and highlight developed skills through a review of past experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write accomplishment-based job and skill statements for job applications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the purpose of the sections of a cover letter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"preparing-for-an-interview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparing for an Interview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: Undergraduate and graduate students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identify types of interview questions including informational, behavioural and situational questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discuss strategies to prepare for a job interview<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the benefits of using a Situation-Action-Result (SAR) response for specific interview questions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Compare and contrast different interview formats (face-to-face, video, group interview)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify proper interview etiquette to create a good impression with an employer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"identifying-your-career-competencies\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Identifying Your Career Competencies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: Undergraduate students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Option A: &nbsp;One Workshop<br><\/strong><strong>Identifying Career Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Define a competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess specific Career Competencies using a skills inventory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/career\/competencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Career Competencies<\/a>\u00a0from their assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write accomplishment statements for their assignments or projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Option B: Two Workshops<br><em>*Typically one workshop is at the beginning of the course, and the other workshop is towards the end of the course.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Part 1: Identifying Career Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Define a competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify Carleton University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/career\/competencies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Career Competencies<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assess specific Career Competencies using a skills inventory<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Part 2: Articulating Career Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Review the definition of a Competency<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete a skills inventory and reflect on key differences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write accomplishment statements from their assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify next steps in their career journey<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"networking-and-linkedin\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Networking and LinkedIn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: Undergraduate and graduate students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Explain the benefits of networking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify the stages in a networking timeline<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify different networking tools and strategies to expand networking opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhance LinkedIn profile using tips and tools gained from the workshop<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define the purpose of an Informational Interview<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review sample informational interview questions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"self-exploration-values-interests-and-skills\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Self-Exploration: Values, Interests and Skills<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For: Undergraduate and graduate students<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul
