id=\"why-video-is-used-for-interviews\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Video is used for Interviews:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is appropriate to request a<strong class=\"myprefix-text-bold\"> Teams\/Skype\/Zoom<\/strong> interview with an employer if you are unable to travel to have an in person interview<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Allows you to see the interviewers, which helps in reading their nonverbal communication that are absent in phone interviews<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"before-the-interview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before the Interview:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a free account (e.g. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skype.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.skype.com<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zoom.com\/\">www.zoom.com <\/a>)\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a professional username (perhaps your first name and last name)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure your location is accurate as this will help the employer locate you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose a professional display picture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure you have the required equipment for a video call\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will need a computer with a microphone, webcam, and an internet connection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Do a test call so that you can get used to using the platform\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Check your voice levels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See you how your image looks (is it clear, blurry, is there glare from windows or lights)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose your location wisely\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure there is an appropriate background (for example, clear the items behind you so that the background looks tidy)Make sure you are in a quiet environment (background noise will get picked up)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"during-the-interview\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">During the Interview:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make sure to have a glass of water with you<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign into the platform 10-15 minutes before your scheduled interview time<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dress appropriately and make sure you look professional on video<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some clothing (colours, patterns) do not look as good as others on camera<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be prepared for technical difficulties!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure to ask if the interviewer(s) can hear and see you clearly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be mindful of the video call lagging which can interrupt the flow of the conversation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have your resume and any other needed materials (i.e. pen and paper) nearby for your
