Helin Burkay’s current research explores negotiation of cultural heritage in transnational settings and collective memory of violence, displacement, migration, food, and most recently, pandemics. She is currently involved in two research projects. One is on the intersections of material culture and culinary heritage for Canadian-Anatolian communities with a view to understand how food and space are implicated in the making of belonging for Anatolian diaspora in Canada. She is also involved in a research project on methodological possibilities and contradictions of capturing the “memory” of Covid-19 for museums.<\/p>\n
Helin holds a PhD in Sociology from Carleton University.
