History, Memory, Performance<\/h2>\n

History, Memory, Performance<\/em> was a conference jointly organized by the University of Ottawa’s Department of Theatre and the Centre for Public History in April 2012. It brought together over a hundred scholars, students and practitioners engaged in the disciplines of public history, theatre studies and related fields. This bilingual, interdisciplinary event featured keynotes by Professor Freddie Rokem (University of Tel-Aviv) and Emeritus Professor Jean-Pierre Sarrazac, lunchtime events with artistic director Wajdi Mouawad and playwright Hannah Moscovitch, a roundtable on First Nations Theatre, and over 35 panels, working groups, workshops, and performances. Co-director David Dean spoke about the conference here. Two volumes of essays appeared as a result of the conference: David Dean, Yana Meerzon, and Kathryn Prince (eds), History, Memory, Performance (Palgrave, 2015) and Jo\u00ebl Beddows and Louise Frappier, Histoire et m\u00e9moire au th\u00e9\u00e2tre: perspectives contemporaines (University of Laval, 2016).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
