Brian Johnson, P. Eng. BDS is a Partner and the Manager of the New Construction/Design Department at Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd.  He has extensive experience in the investigation, design, analysis, and modeling of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and timber systems (separately and in combined/hybrid uses) in both new and renovation projects (including horizontal and vertical expansions).  A Professional Engineer and a certified Building Design Specialist licensed under the Professional Engineers of Ontario, Mr. Johnson has completed numerous design and construction projects with construction values in exceedance of $150,000,000.  As the Partner-in-Charge/Lead Structural Engineer on many of the firm’s large projects, Brian understands the importance of communication, preparation, and coordination to the success of a project, especially those that are complex and need to be performed in a timely and efficient manner.  With over 20 years of experience Brian focuses on collaboration and integration at all stages of a project.  He has used this approach to collaborate with the Team members on all types of projects including construction management, design-build, and design-bid-build.

Cleland Jardine Engineering Ltd. is an Ottawa-based consulting engineering firm specializing in the structural investigation, analysis, design and review of both new and existing buildings. Founded in 1993 by Michael Cleland, P. Eng. and Robert Jardine, P. Eng., the current group of 6 partners have over 100 years of combined construction, engineering, and construction management experience. For over 2 decades the firm has successfully completed thousands of projects on a wide range of recreational, institutional, industrial, commercial and residential facilities. These projects have involved green field construction, repair and/or restoration, vertical & horizontal expansions, seismic retrofit, renovations/retrofit of heritage sensitive buildings, structural studies of building system capacities and life cycles, as well as, building envelope study and repairs.  On all projects, it focuses on its TEAM Design approach in which all members of the project team work collaboratively in a goal focused environment to successfully complete any mandate.
