Max Kinateder is a Research Officer in the Fire Safety unit of the Construction Research Center at the National Research Council Canada and an adjunct faculty in the Department of Cognitive Science at Carleton University. He works human behavior in emergency situations, evacuation behavior (e.g., due to building fires or wildfires), as well as basic and applied research in vision science (e.g., low vision, and AR vision aids). As part of his work, he uses immersive virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) tools which allow simulating complex scenarios with a high level of control. Max holds a PhD in psychology from the university of Wuerzburg, Germany.
