Computer facilities are excellent, and are constantly being upgraded. Computer equipment within the Department comprises a centralized UNIX environment based on Sun workstations, and a cluster of Microsoft Windows-based PCs, as well as many individually held research workstations and servers in a variety of configurations. Connectivity is provided at Departmental and University Intranet and external Internet levels to provide wide access to tools, support, and research resources worldwide.

The software on the various computer systems includes up-to-date offerings in the fields of statistical analysis, mathematical and scientific computation, data base management, word processing and Internet services. Specialized engineering software is also available for analysis and design purposes.
