Below is a chart outlining the different levels of government with examples taken from Canada and the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>In the left column, write down what you think the responsibilities for each level of government are.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have accomplished that, try to figure out the name(s) of the leader(s) of each government level, first in Canada, and then for the examples from the EU.<\/p>\n<table class=\"cutable\" style=\"width: 100%;\" border=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><strong>Level of Government<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>Examples from Canada<\/strong><\/td>\n<td><strong>Examples from the EU <\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Municipal Responsibilities:<\/td>\n<td>Ottawa: The Mayor is the head of the local government, at city hall and city council.<\/td>\n<td>Mayor of a city, e.g. Munich<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Provincial Responsibilities:<\/td>\n<td>Ontario: The Premier is the head of the provincial legislature.<\/td>\n<td>NOT all countries of the EU have provinces or states.
