Part 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IN CANADA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So in Canada, the provinces are subordinate to the federal government when dealing with other countries. How is this similar to the EU?<\/p>\n<p>The EU is made up of <strong>regional <\/strong>Member States, such as Spain, Portugal, France and Ireland and a <strong>central <\/strong>government, called the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Member States and Provinces are both <strong>regional <\/strong>governments. The federal government in Canada and the European Union in Europe are both <strong>central <\/strong>governments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>However, there is an important difference between the central and regional governments in Canada and Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>central<\/strong> government of the EU only represents the member states in disputes involving foreign trade and fishing. The EU does not represent the <strong>regional<\/strong> member states in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/sc\/\">UN Security Council<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/fr\/sc\/\">FR<\/a> or in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nato.int\/cps\/en\/natolive\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NATO<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nato.int\/cps\/fr\/natolive\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FR<\/a>.
