As part of the Faculty of Public Affairs Research Series<\/a>, the Jean Monnet Network on EU-Canada Relations is pleased to host a one-day international research conference, Global Economic Relations in the Trump Era and After: Challenges and Policy Options for the EU and Canada.<\/em><\/p>\n

These are challenging times for the world economy. The so-called liberal international economic order, which was developed in the aftermath of World War II, has become seriously compromised as a result of nationalist economic policies pursued by China, India and the United States under the presidency of Donald Trump. In contrast, the European Union (EU) and Canada continue to support and actively work to maintain an open, rules-based global economic regime.<\/p>\n

This international research conference brings together eminent scholars from the fields of political science, economics and law to assess and discuss these trade and investment policy developments. Conference participants will also examine their impact on the global economy\u2019s future as well as identify potential policy options that the EU and Canada, in cooperation with like-minded partners, should pursue in order to prevent global economic closure.<\/p>\n

This is workshop is organised by\u00a0Dirk De Bi\u00e8vre<\/a>\u00a0(University of Antwerp),\u00a0Patrick Leblond<\/a>\u00a0(University of Ottawa), and\u00a0Crina Viju-Miljusevic<\/a>\u00a0(Carleton University). Funding for this conference is generously provided by the\u00a0Jean Monnet Network on EU-Canada Relations<\/a>,\u00a0Carleton University<\/a>,\u00a0Faculty of Public Affairs Research Series<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0CN-Paul M. Tellier Chair on Business and Public Policy<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Ottawa. The Jean Monnet Network is co-funded by the\u00a0Erasmus+ Programme<\/a>\u00a0of the European Union and Carleton University.<\/em><\/p>\n
