{"id":10893,"date":"2018-12-07T10:14:17","date_gmt":"2018-12-07T15:14:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ces\/?page_id=10893"},"modified":"2019-10-25T13:36:34","modified_gmt":"2019-10-25T17:36:34","slug":"knowledge-synthesis-project-on-canada-uk-trade-relationship","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/ces\/knowledge-synthesis-project-on-canada-uk-trade-relationship\/","title":{"rendered":"Knowledge Synthesis Project on Canada-UK Trade Relationship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Knowledge Synthesis Project \u201cPolitical Contestation about International Economic Agreements: Lessons for the Canada-UK Trade Relationship after Brexit\u201d examines under which circumstances international trade and investment agreements become politically contentious, and which best practices exist for channeling such contention into evidence-based and impactful policy debates.<\/p>\n<p>The research team for this project is constituted by <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/polisci\/people\/hurrelmann-achim\/\">Achim Hurrelmann<\/a> (Carleton University) and <a href=\"https:\/\/warwick.ac.uk\/fac\/soc\/pais\/people\/atikcan\/\">Ece \u00d6zlem Atikcan<\/a> (University of Warwick\/UK) as principal investigators, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/eurus\/people\/viju-crina\/\">Crina Viju-Miljusevic<\/a> (Carleton University) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcl.ac.uk\/sspp\/departments\/european-studies\/people\/staff\/academic\/chalmersa.aspx\">Adam Chalmers<\/a> (King\u2019s College London\/UK). The project is funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) of the United Kingdom (see official funding announcement <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sshrc-crsh.gc.ca\/news_room-salle_de_presse\/press_releases-communiques\/2018\/ksg_esrc_trade_relations-ssc_esrc_relations_commerciales-eng.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The project released a Knowledge Synthesis Report on December 12, 2018:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.22215\/crw\/2018.ir.22734\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">Hurrelmann, Achim, Ece \u00d6zlem Atikcan, Adam William Chalmers and Crina Viju-Miljusevic. (2018). <i>Political Contestation about International Economic Agreements: Lessons for the Canada-UK Trade Relationship after Brexit. Final Report for the SSHRC\/ESRC Knowledge Synthesis Grant Initiative \u201cUnderstanding the Future of Canada-UK Trade Relationships.\u201d<\/i> Ottawa, Warwick and London, November 30, 2018.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The project results were also summarized in a scholarly article:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/full\/10.1177\/0020702019875838\">Hurrelmann, Achim, Ece \u00d6zlem Atikcan, Adam William Chalmers and Crina Viju-Miljusevic.
