The 2025 EU-Canada Young Journalist Fellowship winners have been announced by the Delegation of the European Union to Canada in Ottawa and Canadian Association of Journalists this week. A juried panel of scholars and experts selected Carleton University student, Maia Tustonic, to receive one of the three awarded fellowships for her exemplary journalism.<\/p>\n

Maia Tustonic, an undergraduate student, reports on Canada’s strengthening the partnership with the European Union with her article, ‘Like-minded partner:\u2019 EU leaders congratulate Carney, call for closer ties<\/em><\/a>. Maia is enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Journalism<\/a> and Political Science<\/a>: International Relations and World Politics, at Carleton University.<\/p>\n

Aur\u00e9lie Lachapelle and Liam Razzell were awarded fellowships for their articles. Aur\u00e9lie writes about the tensions leading up to Germany’s federal election in early 2025 with Tension en Allemagne \u00e0 quelques jours du scrutin<\/em><\/a> and Liam focuses his writing on a potential partnership between Canada and the European Union with Could Canada join the European Union? A University of Victoria Professor thinks not<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

These three laureates will travel to Brussels later this year for an organized and expense paid one-week study tour to learn first-hand about the European Union’s institutions.
