The Centre for European Studies (CES) and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (Foundation Office Canada) are delighted to announce that Professor Jan Wouters has been selected as the 2026 Konrad Adenauer Visiting Professor on Transatlantic Relations. Professor Wouters will be in residence at Carleton University throughout the Fall 2026 term.<\/p>\n

Jan Wouters<\/a> is a widely published scholar of global governance, international and EU law, human rights, international organizations, and corporate law. He is Full Professor of International Law and International Organizations at KU Leuven in Belgium, where serves as Jean Monnet Chair ad personam in EU and Global Governance, Founding Director of the Institute for International Law and the Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies, and Administrator of the America Europe Fund. He has led several collaborative transatlantic research initiatives, including most recently the Transatlantic Network for Dialogue, Education and Multidisciplinary Research (TANDEM)<\/a>, in which Carleton University is a member. He has published more than 85 books, 165 journal articles,\u00a0and 300 book chapters.<\/p>\n

During his visiting scholarship at Carleton University, Professor Wouters plans to conduct research on the law and politics of transatlantic relation in the Trump era. He will teach a class (EURR 4201\/5201) on \u201cHuman Rights and the Rule of Law: American, Canadian and European Perspectives\u201d. He will contribute to public events and other outreach initiatives planned by the Centre for European Studies and the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung. His visit to Carleton University will strengthen our existing research expertise and international connections in the area of transatlantic relations and will help maximize the benefits of Carleton\u2019s involvement in the TANDEM project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
