The goal of the analysis is to gain better insight into the underlying institutional structure of the EU political system as a whole, and the likely consequences of the changing character of the executive-legislative relationship for the policy process. In particular, the lack of clarity within the executive branch, exacerbated by the Lisbon Treaty, and the possible negative implications that result are analyzed.<\/p>\n<p>Amie Kreppel is Director of the Center for European Studies at the University of Florida.
