ChemRxiv has experienced incredible growth since launch and changed how many go about publishing academic papers in chemistry. As a result, many chemists are wondering what preprints are and how they can use them.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"cu-column-content\">\n    \n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/files-chemistry-stanford-edu.s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/large-scaled\/public\/0.jpg?Gx2EqzBBflhh9SxpFuu4Rrw3Qvv4uLja&amp;itok=OsGOXDeT\" alt=\"Image result for marshall brennan\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n<p>In this seminar, Dr Marshall Brennan, ChemRxiv\u2019s Publishing Manager, will describe what preprints are, what preprint servers do, and answer questions about how ChemRxiv can impact your scholarly publication workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"biosketch\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biosketch<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Marshall received his Bachelor\u2019s in Chemistry with honors from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, during which time he carried out research at Harvard University under the supervision of Professor Tobias Ritter. He completed his graduate work in 2015 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the laboratory of Prof. Alison Fout, studying low-valent cobalt complexes featuring strongly-donating bis(silyl)amide ligands and their catalytic reactivity toward C\u2014N bond formation. He then carried postdoctoral research on rhodium-mediated C\u2014C activation methodology before joining Nature Chemistry as an editor for nearly two years. In 2017, Marshall was recruited to lead the launch and development of the American Chemical Society\u2019s new preprint server, ChemRxiv, where he now oversees day-to-day operations and business development. In 2018, Marshall was a recipient of the ACS Catalyst Award and a nominee for Forbes Magazine\u2019s \u201c30 Under 30 in Science &amp; Technology\u201d.
