The purpose of the award is to assist promising undergraduate students in gaining research experience with a research group in Chemistry or Biochemistry at Carleton during the summer months. The&nbsp; award is&nbsp; for a full 16-week period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interested undergraduate students should submit an application by February 28, 2021 to the Walker Award committee:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Walker Award committee<\/strong><br>\nc\/o Caitlyn McKenzie<br>\n<a href=\"mailto:Caitlyn.McKenzie@carleton.ca\">Caitlyn.McKenzie@carleton.ca<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The application must include the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A cover letter outlining your research experience, your aspirations for a career in research, and a brief description of your intended summer research project. One or two pages is sufficient for this letter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A written affirmation of interest from your intended faculty supervisor to support you for the summer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your contact information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Please note, you are not eligible for the Walker Award if you are awarded an NSERC USRA or DSRI. He discussing his <span class=\"style-scope yt-formatted-string\" dir=\"auto\">childhood fascination with science, how it led him to MIT, and his current research endeavors \u2014 studying DNA repair and mutagenesis, as well as symbiosis between bacteria and plants.
