The 80th Anniversary of Kristallnacht: What Shards Remain?

Exploring the Complexities of Kristallnacht in your classroom

This year marks the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht (The Night of Broken Glass). The November 9, 1938 Pogroms were the worst outbreak of terror and violence against Jews all over Germany since the Nazis came to power. Thousands of Jewish homes and businesses were destroyed, 191 synagogues had been set on fire. Over 100 Jews died as a result of the violence. 30,000 Jewish males were arrested and transferred to concentration camps.
The workshop will be of interest to grade 7-12 teachers of History, and other Social Sciences, English and Literature and will be presented by Facing history and Ourselves (FHAO) Canada.

The workshop will explore the choices people made during the Weimar Republic, the rise of the Nazi Party, and the Holocaust, and help students understand the power and impact of our choices today.

School Outreach and Teacher’s Workshops provide educational and enrichments opportunities for teachers and producing pedagogical materials using Ottawa boards’ of education high school guidelines with excellent outcomes.
