Marie Hopps (November 16, 1957–September 6, 2022)
It is with great sadness that the College of the Humanities mourns the death of Marie Hopps.
Marie played a vital role serving as the College Administrator from the day we welcomed our first group of students in September 1996 until she retired in 2012. Among other things, Marie managed the College’s finances, scheduled our courses, administered student bursaries and scholarships, and managed our administrative staff. She helped new faculty get settled, organised our holiday festivities, celebrated important milestones (promotions, weddings, the arrival of babies), and helped us when we were ill or struggling. We are grateful for her years of service to the College.
We miss her and will always remember her warmth, kindness, sense of humour, and patience.
