At a time when the intersection of religion and violence continues to occupy the public imagination, this evening of literary arts seeks to explore the largely unresolved episodes of 1984.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\">Program<\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><b>Jaspreet Singh: <i>Helium<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"align:center size-medium wp-image-9687 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/carleton.ca\/chum\/wp-content\/uploads\/HeliumImage-240x205.png\" alt=\"HeliumImage\" width=\"240\" height=\"205\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><b>5.30pm<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><b>Patterson Hall Room 303<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The author of the highly acclaimed work of fiction,\u00a0<i>Helium<\/i>, based on the factual events of 1984, will be giving a reading of his book, followed by a discussion with the author.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><b>Kultar\u2019s Mime<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: center\">Composed &amp; Directed by<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"text-align: center\">J. Mehr Kaur and Sarbpreet Singh<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><b>7.00pm<\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><b>Kailash Mital Theatre<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Kultar\u2019s Mime is an artistic response specifically to the anti-Sikh pogroms of Delhi (these pogroms occurred throughout India). It\u00a0 tells the story of 1984 using theatre as the medium, together with poetry and classical rags. The play is performed by a Boston based professional theatre company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This event is free and open to the public.
